Ok, I think I got enough interest to warrant a post.
In order for this solution to work, you HAVE to know the server name of your Lotus Domino and the your name exactly as it is in your Domino address book.
1. Visit this forum and search for rapidshare. The second hit will lead you to DAMO 7.0.2 exe file. Download this. Note: This version of DAMO partially works with Outlook 2007 but it has the "meeting and replication" related problems. Do not install it yet.
2. Google for "C1K37EN.exe". You should find a link that will allow you to download this file. This is DAMO 8.0.2.
Both these files are uploaded and hosted by somebody else. I just found them after a little (re)search.
Now you have two versions of DAMO downloaded.
Here is the trick that lot of people don't know.
3. Install DAMO 7.0.2 first. It is pretty intuitive. Do not open Outlook yet.
4. Install DAMO 8.0.2 next. This should ask for an upgrade of the existing DAMO. If it does, you are on the right track.
You don't have to change any environment variable or adjust your registry. DAMO 8.0.2 handles this for you.
5. Now open outlook 2007. When you open for the first time, outlook should automatically replicate with your Domino and all your mails and calendar entries gets downloaded.
Thats it you are done! Now you can not only send and recieve mails, you can accept meeting requests. Read and deleted emails are appropriately reflected in your DOMINO server. You may want to open Lotus notes once in a while to make sure that this is happening.
This solution worked for me. I use a Windows XP laptop with Domino 7.x version and outlook 2007 SP1. THIS MAY NOT WORK IF YOU HAVE Outlook 2007 SP2.
If this solution does not work and you want to try the install again. You have to uninstall DAMO and then re-install 7.0.2 and 8.0.2 in that order. It won't work otherwise.
Hope this helps! Do comment and let me know if this worked!

Update 04/09/2013: Please refer to my latest post on Lotus Notes to Outlook 2010..
Thank you for this post!!
ReplyDeleteI have followed your instructions and I get most of the way through. However, I keep getting an error toward the end:
"Setup encountered an error and failed to create a MAPI profile. You will need to reinstall IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook."
I get the same message for both files when installing.
Also, when I'm installing the 8.0.2 file, it asks for a data file location. Is this the existing Notes data file or am I creating a new one?
Any help you can offer is appreciated.
Thanks!
Jason
I have seen this error before.. Make sure that your lotus notes is closed..
ReplyDeleteAlso, the data file it is asking is your user.id file in C:\lotus\notes\data folder..
BTW, you don't have to reinstall DAMO to make this work..
Follow the steps I have outlined earlier exactly and you should be ok..
Hope this helps.. Let me know if you have any questions.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY working way for me so far, finally I can get rid of this crappy Notes sh**
Thanx!!!!
Torrent,
ReplyDeleteGlad that it works for you...
There were so many people intrested in knowing how to hook up outlook 2007 with Lotus Domino. Either it is not working for others or they have not posted a feedback. Common people, show me some love, let me know if it worked for you..
- Saketh.
OK, so I keep getting the MAPI error. Proir to getting that error, I get one that says "Your Address Book does not contain any cross certificates capable of authenticating the server."
ReplyDeleteI have closed Notes completely.
Any ideas?
Finally got it working. Didn't need the 7.0.2 version at all. Just installed 8.0.2 straight up and it worked. Also, I don't think I was giving the proper username before.
ReplyDeleteJason,
ReplyDeleteGlad it worked for you.. I have helped about 5 of my co-workers with this installation, and for all 5 of them, I had to install 7.0.2 first. That may be because we did not have 7.0.2 installed in our machines earlier.
I am sure readers who have trouble with my approach can try yours..
Freedom from Lotus Notes is awesome!
- Saketh.
I couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post. I have also helped a few co-workers since getting this to work.
Thanks so much! This worked great for me!! I have been trying to get this setup and failed. Maybe the 7.0.2 to 8.0.2 update fixed me up this time.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone needs a copy of DAMO, it can be found here... ftp://ftp.emea.ibm.com/fromibm/lotus/Signed_DAMO_IF5_setup.exe Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteJoseph: THANK YOU!! That file you just linked solved the "could not create MAPI profile" error for me, which was persisting through several attempts at install/reinstall.
ReplyDeleteWorking procedure for me was install 7.5, install 8.5, and then install the file Joseph linked above. I have no idea if these steps were necessary but it worked so i'm not messing with it.
Goodbye notes!
I got this to work fairly easily. But if I create an apppointment in my lotus shouldn't that transfer to my outlook?
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to hear form you to try to fugure this out more. I am trying ot have my secretary input apointments in my lotus calendar and have access to these appointments in my outlook. Right now when I put something in my calendar (either lotus or outlook) it does not move across. Does this mean the appointments my secretary puts into my lotus won't make it across?
ReplyDeleteMike,
ReplyDeletePlease see the first post in this blog. There is an entire section on how to get the calendar sync'd. Hope that helps. Let me know if you were able to do it.
I followed all the instructions as stated in the post from 10 June 2009. ( I do have both the files stored away and can e-mail them to anyone who needs them.) However I am not able to get it to sync the way I need it.
ReplyDeleteMy secretary has access to my lotus notes. So see sees what I put in my calendar. When I put appointments in my outlook calendar it does not make it into my lotus calendar so my secretary can see it. Additionally it does not work when my secretary puts an appointment in my lotus calendar.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteCould you send me the files, I would like to try this DAMO.. Would make life much easier (irt Notes)...;-)
Thanks..
Almost forgot: H.Hamelink@gmail.com
Hubert
Mike, can you send me the files as well?
ReplyDeletedualmeida@gmail.com
Hi Mike can you send me the files as well, since I applied DAMO 7 then DAMO 8 and still getting an error can create MAPI du to adreess book.
ReplyDeleteyousseffawaz75@gmail.com
Thanks
Hi Mike, can you send me the files as well?
ReplyDeleteoctavio.ortiz@gmail.com
Thanks!
I'd like a copy of the files also please.
ReplyDeletealex.localx@gmail.com
thanks!
Seems like a lot of work. Why not just click on the exe to upgrade to Notes 8.5?
ReplyDeleteI already upload the two files in Megaupload, the DAMO 7.0.2 and DAMO 8.0.2. The link is:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=JYWJBW8F.
Have fun with Outlook 2007.
Thanks for the info Saketh.
Couldn't access the link in Megaupload! Can you send to my mail joe.cavalulu@gmail.com?
ReplyDeleteHi Erwin. Megaupload is restricted the connection from Hong Kong. Could you move the DAMO to other download server?
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! This worked great. I am using Outlook 2007 SP2 and Lotus Notes 8.5, and no problems.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!

ReplyDeleteGuys - I am getting the "...failed to create MAPI profile" error. Anyone have a link to the DAMO_IF5_setup.exe file? Seems like that fix is needed to resolve this error.
ReplyDeleteAny help is appreciated!
I have IF5 and it make no difference!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI am getting error to connect to my domino server. It kept prompting error that could not connect to my domino server even though my domino server is active. Please advise.
Techno Nath, I don't know what you mean by IF5.
ReplyDeleteKenny Go, I had this issue, please make sure that your Domino server URL is correct. I know you don't like this answer, but that is where ther problem was for many of my co-workers.
My installation went troublefree but I always get this message when I want to open Outlook...."This database is currently in use by another person or process and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it must be accessed thrugh a Domino Server by all users of the database". As such I am not able to open Outlook in this profile at all. Another profile of the same Outlook that is not connected to DAMO works fine.
ReplyDeleteDid I do something wrong in the installation OR do I have to remove Lotus notes 8.xxx that is also installed in the same drive ?
...and just in case it helps...I have a Windows7 + Outlook 2007 + Lotus 8.0.2 combo in my machine
ReplyDeleteShaibal,
ReplyDeleteThe reason you are getting the error is not because of LN. It is because, you may be syncing Lotus Notes to a outlook pst file that the other profile is using. In order for this to work, DAMO needs exclusive lock to your pst file. Let me know if that works..
Could you please send DAMO 8.0.2 to rotproof@gmail.com?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI tried to download the file from mega-upload but it's not there. is it possible for you to send me the file to mohammed.riz1@gmail.com. I'm desperately want to move from LN.
ReplyDeleteIn Notes, you can hit F9 to search your address book for the name youve type in. I searched online and it says F11 is supposed to do the same thing but it does not. Is this the right key or a limitation of the connector?
ReplyDeleteAny chance you can send me both files on my email :
ReplyDeleteflamant [at] gawab.com
Thanks a lot, your post is awesome !
I am having problem with ToDo items. In outlook, all tasks with reminder were resetted with different date & time. Sometimes I got duplicate tasks also. Anybody facing this problem? Or is there a way that I could disable DAMO to sync ToDo?
ReplyDeleteThank you for this information on syncing with the Lotus Domino. I will try it at work tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteCan you please send me an invite for Wave.
Thanks
Watershed11@gmail.com
Thanks for this, working fine after DAMO. Am able to now synchronize my calendar on the iPhone with Outlook.
ReplyDeleteJust noticed 1 issue and am not sure if this is happening for anyone else - When I archive my mails on Outlook, it does not move out of the Domino server and I keep getting mailbox full messages and I have to manually remove the messages by logging into notes. Anyone else have this problem?
Robert,
ReplyDeleteI have sent you the invite.. Good luck!
KillJoy,
ReplyDeleteThats the way it is.. currently no work around for archiving.. Sorry!
KennyGo,
ReplyDeleteI will see if I can find anything..
riz1 and Oliver,
ReplyDeleteI will send you the files in a couple of days. Its in a flash drive somewhere...
Hi! I have the same problem with MAPI:
ReplyDelete"Setup encountered an error and failed to create a MAPI profile. You will need to reinstall IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook."
Tried so much but nothing works...
The file "Signed_DAMO_IF5_setup.exe" isn´t on the ftp server. Can anyone upload it or help me with this error?
thks, regards
Really helpful post.. need to say that this has really made my work environment better...
ReplyDeleteBUT.. for some reason afterd the Initial setup and the connection has downloaded the whole shabang... I can't recevie new mails.. I can send the mails but not receive them...
Anyone with a comment?
Guys! This works really great!!!
ReplyDeleteI am above to resign my present organisation bcoz of the shit and smell of LOTUS NOTES every day.
Dude!!! you really saved my life.
Thanks a lot dude.
Raghu
If I do this, will I still be able to use Outlook for my other accounts? My base company uses Outlook and the Exchange, but a company that I consult for uses Lotus Notes and in order to use my machine (and when I'm not on site) I have to use the crappy iNotes (web based version of Lotus Notes) which for whatever reason won't let me forward emails and I can't send any emails in HTML format. If I install this stuff, will it mess with my current outlook status?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
B
This doesn't work for me at all..
ReplyDeleteI have tried this solution and different variants to make it work but in the end nothing is satifactory.
The initial setup works perfectly. It download the whole mailbox and then restarts Outlook.
Then Outlook either works with send and receive until I restart it, when it stop to receiving. Or doesn't recieve at all but still sends.
I have to create a new MAPI profile several times but always it stops receiving mails.
Anyone have a comment on what could be wrong?
I really wanted to use Outlook instead of the crappy Notes Client that really sucks.
Thanks
///David
Is it possible to sync your DAMO mail into your iPhone, or does it only sycn's your calendar and contacts?
ReplyDeleteProblem solved I think...
ReplyDeleteThe issue that Outlook stop receiving mails after initial load is due to that Outlook is not set as the default Email- Client...
I have changed it in my PC and wait and see if it stops receiving..
I am trying to configre it but not working.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it will not work if I try to configure the DAMO with a pass-through server.
Let me know
Has anyone had problems with junk characters coming up in emails?
ReplyDeleteI'm getting â€tm instead of ' in my messages. However, these only appear when one of my messages is replied and is at the bottom of the email. I've searched for "â€tm instead of '" on google and it turns out microsoft uses a different apostrophe (one with a ball and hook rather than just a vertical dash). "ï‚• " also appears when using bullets, and there are others.
Has anyone else experienced these? Is it a conversion problem between HTML and rich text messages for Lotus? Are there any solutions?
I am having the same problem as Shaibal Giri, the error message when I load the outlook profile: "This database is currently in use by another person or process and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it must be accessed thrugh a Domino Server by all users of the database"
ReplyDeleteI understand the solution requires DAMO to have an exclusive lock to the pst file but how do I do that?
I am new to Outlook and need a bit more guidance.
Thanks for the info. i'm having a problem with getting outlook to sync all my notes emails. Some won't come through. For example, yesterday I received 20 emails to Lotus Notes. However, only 4 showed up in Outlook this morning when I opened Outlook to check email. I have Outlook 2007 with Notes 8.0.2. and the version of DAMO that installs with the C1K37EN.executable.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm havin the same problem as Carsten, wich I quote
"..."Setup encountered an error and failed to create a MAPI profile. You will need to reinstall IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook."
Tried so much but nothing works...
The file "Signed_DAMO_IF5_setup.exe" isn´t on the ftp server. Can anyone upload it or help me with this error?"
Hi Momosapiens!
ReplyDeleteMy Problem with the MAPI-profile creatition is solved! :-)
I have to create an new windows userprofile. after that everything works great!
1. new windows user
2. damo 702.eng.exe
3. damo testfix 8.0.2.exe
4. open outlook
I am running Windows 7 Profession (6.1.7600) with Outlook 2007 SP2.
ReplyDeleteInitially I ran into this error:
"This database is currently in use by another person or process and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it must be accessed thrugh a Domino Server by all users of the database".
As posted before this is a Windows Mail issue. I resolved this by going to my mail profile (Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Mail>Profiles) and deleting all existing profiles.
Installed DAMO 802.
Opened Outlook 2007.
Done
I am getting the same issue with â€tm or similar showing instead of some characters. Issues with double quotes, apostrophe and a few others. Read up a bit - it sounds like something to do with UTF-8 encoded HTML being displayed (or parsed) by a different encoding type, non-supported characters get the â€tm treatment.
ReplyDeleteAnnoying though, this only happens when I reply to an email - If I send a new email it is fine. Not all emails cause it to happen either.
Tried tweaking the sending options in Outlook but not fixed it yet :(
well done!
ReplyDeleteis working great!
nx ta lotusu nesmone!
I am now running Outlook 2010 with Notes+Domino 7.0.4

hi group,
ReplyDeleteinstalled last week, problem I am having is all email is coming in ok, sending ok, calendar etc OK. Only problem is, I noticed when I load up lotus notes all my emails and folders set in outlook havn't sync'd over. Any ideas on how to make outlook sync back the other way?
Hi, did somebody resolved de character problem ???
ReplyDeleteHere is great info, see if it helps:
ReplyDeletehttp://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/11042009123513PMWEBNMK.htm
I am running Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 and Notes 8.5.1. Connector installation was smooth - in Outlook 2010 I can now send email and look up addresses in the Notes contact list - but no Notes email or calendar is being downloaded/replicated/displayed in the Outlook inbox or Outlook calendar.
ReplyDeleteInstalled:
damo 702.eng.exe
damo testfix 8.0.2.exe
Note: In the Notes Connector Add-in configuration in Outlook, under replication Settings the preferred server list is empty. If I add a valid server, the field is still empty when I reload the dialog box. (I did add a valid server during setup)
Any suggestions? - thx
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI would like to try this but can't locate any of the files. Could someone send me the files to arlenan@gmail.com

Greetings,
ReplyDeleteI finaly managed to install DAMO.
Now i have a big problem, the sync is one way. If i mark mails read for example, they are only read in outlook, not on the domino server (lotus, blackberry)
Any ideas where the problem comes from please?
Does anyone know if there are any issues with this on Windows 7?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! worked for me on XP sp3 w/Outlook 2007 and Lotus Notes 8.5.1
ReplyDeleteI was shocked, because of I had opened my MS Outlook today. My emails have been damaged. I used the Google and observed there - .ost file recovery. To my great surprise the utility worked out my issue for seconds and completely free of charge as I kept in mind.
ReplyDeleteI am at my wits end. I have read through this entire thread and tried everything that was mentioned above. I still get: "Setup encountered an error and failed to create a MAPI profile. You will need to reinstall IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook."
ReplyDeleteI am running windows 7 (64 bit) and outlook 2007. (fresh install of the OS and MS Office)
I literally went through EVERY Post above and tried all weekend to get this working. Any ideas or help is GREATLY appreciated.
I am willing to try anything at this point.
:o(
John
Saketh, thank you very much for all your help!!! I would appreciate if you could send me the files, too... You may still have the mails you sent to the previous people!
ReplyDeleteMy address is ferfranch@hotmail.com
Thank you!!!
I am useing office 2010 and notes 8.5.1.0, I have it working to a point, when i open or move anything in outlook it does not update in lotus.. Can this be fixed??
ReplyDeleteBack in January, Brandon posted his concern. I have a similar situation with a different issue. I use Outlook 2007 with an Exchange server. I also have an account on Lotus notes (with my customer). I installed the DAMO without any issues. It created a NEW profile (in addition to my exchange profile) and imported all the bits and works fine. I then opened my other (Exchange) profile and added the .pst AND the Domino Mail account HOPING that it would replicate just like it does in the other profile. NO LUCK! I have to open outlook in the other profile (so that the .pst will update) and then close Outlook and open again with my Exchange profile. Then I can see BOTH mailboxes (but, OBVIOUSLY, the Lotus Notes mailbox won't be updated again until I close Outlook and reopen with the other profile. CAN EXCHANGE AND NOTES BE ACCESSED FROM THE SAME OUTLOOK PROFILE? - ANY THOUGHTS?
ReplyDeleteHi Gurus,
ReplyDeleteI need help :
How Can I synchronize my mail from Outlook to my Lotus Notes mail. Sofar,it synchronize the mail from Lotus Notes to Outlook, not vice versa.
Thanks in advance for help.
Tan
I have just recovered a previous image of my hard drive. When I started out on this image I got a prompt to change the password. It would not allow me to actually perform the change because it said my passwords did not match (although this may be possible since the image is 3 months old). When it then proceeeded to launch into outlook it had the following error:
ReplyDeleteYou have a different password on another copy of your ID file and you must change the password on this copy to match. You have no access to send or receive mail from the server.
I've already copied over the I'd file from the Notes folder which I had IT place on my machine. I do not have an issue connecting to the server from Notes, just outlook.
Any ideas?
look for the .id file that notes is using, [usually C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data] use that file for Damo installation and apply the same password.
ReplyDeletetried that, it didnt work
ReplyDeletenow ive installed office 2010 and installed DAMO 7 & 8 and it gets the content into outlook fine but now doesnt sync back to the server - any ideas?
If anyone has the files, could you send them to arlenan@gmail.com. My pc was reformatted and I can't remember where I found the files in May '10
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else I am stuck in Lotus notes hell. I have installed Damo 8.0.2 interim fix 6 and office 2010 on XP. It outlook sends mail niceley and the Lotus notes side works 100% but as several others have encountered. If you read or delete mail in outlook nothing gets back to lotus notes. If you send mail using outlook it only appears in outlook. Nothing except new outgoing mail seems to make it from outlook to the domino server.
ReplyDeleteI have applied the two recommended changes in the Notes.ini in the damo directory:
OUTLOOK_TYPE=4
REPL_PST_FORCE_SUBMIT=1
I have but never heard of someone say that they have 2010 working on Xp.
The fact that nothing gets back suggests that something went wrong with the setup. As I said before everything appears to work in notes and get transferred to outlook but nothing from outlook makes it back to Notes.
For those of you getting the "This database is currently in use by another person or process" Dan's link worked for me. I tried uninstalling Office SP2 etc, nothing worked. I have installed various versions of Outlook & DAMO with no problems until now. Thanks.
ReplyDeletePS I use Companion Link to sync with my phone. Very happy with their support
Can someone please email me the two files need to get this working
ReplyDeletesam_foord@hotmail.com
Many thanks in advance.
Sam
Are there live links to "damo 702.eng.exe" and "C1K37EN.exe"?
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem as Carsten or momosapiens ...
ReplyDelete"..."Setup encountered an error and failed to create a MAPI profile. You will need to reinstall IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook."
I tried the last DAMO-Fix ... and much more ... but nothing had worked.
At last i searched the registry about "DominoForOutlook". I found many etries with an invalid path to some dll-Files in the my DominoForOutlook-Folder. (p.e.: C?\Programe Files\DominoForOutlook instead of C:\Programe Files\...)
So i uninstalled DAMO ... deleted all entries in the registry which contained "DominoForOutlook" ... and reinstalled DAMO again.
And now, it works fine!!
Please send me the link for the DAMO. I cant download it from the IBM website.

I would like to suggest reliable & reasonably priced application to convert all of your NSF files into your personal outlook account. To try this software trial version also available .
ReplyDeletehttp://nsftopstconverter.stellarservertools.com/
Another open-source tool which works fantastically well is iNotes-exporter https://github.com/javabean/iNotes-exporter which can expose your Lotus email as a POP3 server (it needs access to the webmail only), along with exporting to a variety of mailbox formats.
ReplyDeleteAnd for easy migration to Outlook, there is even a great web interface available at https://github.com/javabean/iNotes-exporter-web
To work around the "sent on behalf of" Google smtp server addition, you can use Yahoo's smtp servers (same steps: add you work email to your Yahoo account first).
Can you email me the DAMO download link at info@jrcbulldogs.ca?
